Speedway In Lights

One of our family traditions is to go to the Speedway In Lights. The kids love to ride the rides and get kettle corn and cotton candy at the end.

Christmas Painting

Parker and Claire painted some masks and ornaments on Christmas Eve.

Parker didn't want pictures taken of his work in progress.

Claire loved the pictures.

Parker's finished mask (notice the glasses)

Everything was going smoothly until we were cleaning up. I looked over and saw Claire drinking the dirty paint water. Oh yes she did! Gross!

My Favorite Ornaments

These are just a few of my favorite ornaments. I have lots of favorites!

Christmas Meme

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I try to wrap as many gifts as I can, especially all the ones for the kids. It's just more fun to rip the paper off!

2. Real tree or Artificial? artificial

3. When do you put up the tree? right after Thanksgiving is always my goal, but I also have to wait for Scrooge to carry it in and set it up for me (Ha!)

4. When do you take the tree down? around the second week of January

5. Do you like eggnog? no

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Lots of favorites! A real teacher's desk waiting in the basement one year. The year I finally got a "real" cabbage patch doll. Oh, and I'll never forget that HUGE tub of fireballs Santa left one year! Mom and Dad always made it special ~ every year!

7. Hardest person to buy for? Other people's kids because I never know what they already have or want.

8. Easiest person to buy for? Parker and Claire (a little too easy!) :)

9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, a Fontanini set that Brian's mom started for him years ago. I've started a collection for Parker and Claire now too. Hopefully, they will have a complete set by the time they get married. It's not breakable so the kids can play with it now. They especially love the animals.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards? mail ~ I LOVE Christmas cards. I love sending them and receiving them. I can't wait to check my mailbox every day during December. I get so excited to open them all and display them. I look at them over and over during the month.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received ? Mints! Ha! Just an inside joke for a few friends who may be reading this. I actually love mints.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I usually start shopping for the kids in August or September. I wait until around November to start shopping for others.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I'm sure I have at some point!

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Everything at Nanafest (my family's name for Christmas Eve at my parent's house)! Heavenly Ham, ChickfilA nuggets, sausage balls, meatballs, spinach dip, ham/cheese sandwiches, etc, etc, etc. YUM!

16. Lights on the tree? yes..clear lights

17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? home, but traveling around town :)

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Of course and if you can't, don't come back here until you can!

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning! Santa always leaves his gifts unwrapped, but how disappointing it would be to not have any wrapped gifts to open on Christmas morning too. The only gifts we open early are from extended family and friends.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Can get a little too busy

23. Favorite ornament theme or color? All of the ornaments my children make

24. Favorite dessert for Christmas dinner? Cinnamon Jumble cookies, this is Santa's favorite too by the way

25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Time to enjoy it!

Happy Birthday Jesus

My friend Lisa and I wanted to have a birthday party for Jesus this year for our kids. We invited other children from our church and had a wonderful time celebrating Jesus and his birthday yesterday. Making an ornament
Decorating a goodie bag
Decorating and eating cookies

Our very special guest!
Santa stopped by for a visit and talked to the children about the real meaning of Christmas and read a book to them about the birth of Jesus.
We also had a photographer stop by to take Santa pictures with the kids. Thanks Chad!
