Jason Aldean/Luke Bryan Concert!

Brian and I had a fun trip to Charlotte to see Jason Aldean & Luke Bryan! We had free tickets and great seats, so that made it even better (thanks Andy)!  It was over 100 degrees and the humidity must have been 4,268%.  Seriously.  I've never been so hot in my life.  But Jason and Luke were SO worth it!

I'm still working on converting Brian to a full-time country bumpkin.  He already liked Jason and Luke as far as country goes. He also admitted the concert was really good, and they both sounded great live. So maybe I'm one step closer to getting him in those boots and hat.  Unlikely, but a girl can dream...

Now, introducing the Brianaby himself...

Hi everyone! I just want to offer a word of advice. If you are attending a concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, allow PLENTY of time to arrive! We were at a hotel 2.5 miles away and it took an hour and a half to get into the parking lot which caused us to miss the first part of Luke's set! Now, I know that some of you reading this don't know much about my temperament, but I can get a little impatient in traffic (Michele can tell you many stories). I won't say that I was getting angry, but let's just say, hornets have seen better days. The amphitheater was very nice, however, it will probably be the last time I see it. I will give my wife a lot of credit. Even though she got a little hot under the collar a couple times along with me, she was able to keep me fairly calm (even when we had to sit in another hour of traffic trying to get out of the concert). She may be getting a tiny bit closer to getting me into boots and a hat, but it will not be at that venue! Yee-haw, giddy up!

Cookies For Neighbors

Our neighbors on both sides have been going through a difficult time.  One of them just lost a very close friend.  The other family just had a new baby.  They've known since the 20 week ultrasound that their baby boy has a growth on his leg.  All of the specialists were very hopeful throughout the rest of her pregnancy that it was extra muscle mass that could be removed after he was born.  Unfortunately, it was discovered at his birth that he has a form of cancer called Rabdomiosarcoma.  At just a few weeks old, he started chemotherapy.  The baby's name is Kael, and I know they would appreciate your prayers.

We all enjoyed delivering the cookies and visiting with our neighbors.

Weekend Happenings

This is what we woke up to on Saturday morning...

Party Pig was in da house!

(By the way, he is for hire for all of your party needs....ain't no party like a Party Pig party)

Other "friends" who stopped by to make a Saturday morning visit

Saturday afternoon, we went swimming.  These cool cats were taking a break.

Max worked as lifeguard all day, and he was exhausted.

For lunch on Sunday, I made Oreo Extravaganza.  I guess it was a good sign when I came home with an empty dish.

Brian's Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Dale have been in town visiting from California.

Sunday night, I went to Megan's house for The Bachelorette Finale.  I made this
 spinach dip!

(I can't get this picture to turn)

Emily was there with us, and she cracks me up! She was SO into the show!

Yesterday, we worked ALL DAY in my classroom.
(More on that later.)

Last night, the kids played outside after we had hot dogs for National Hot Dog Day.
I'm always looking for a reason to celebrate!

Fun times!

Catching Up

A few days ago, I took Parker and Claire to see Brave.

I also went to Jane's baby shower.  We are looking forward to meeting little Ava soon!

We celebrated Brian's birthday on Saturday with his parents.
