All Fired Up

Tonight our chuch had a showing of the movie Fireproof. We wanted to see it in the theater, but didn't make it there before it stopped showing. It was wonderful for the church to plan this event for young couples. Yes, I still consider myself young. No comments on that please!
While the parents were watching the movie, the kids got to see a real firetruck. Parker and Claire told us all about it when we picked them up. They got to see a fireman and sit inside the truck.
The kids also got to eat pizza and popcorn and watch Firehouse Dog.

It was a fun night!

Good Morning!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

I'm Rich!

My Father owns "the cattle on a thousand hills"
Psalm 50:10

I love this reminder every day, no matter our circumstances.

Are you rich too?

Such A Big Girl

Claire went to the dentist for the first time today. She was supposed to just meet the dentist and meet the big stuffed moose with the huge teeth and toothbrush today. When we got there, Mrs. Kim (my friend from my church when I was younger) told me the dentist was running behind, and it would be quicker just to do a cleaning. We would still get to meet the dentist for a minute (just not the moose I suppose). I was totally convinced that Claire would NOT want to get her teeth cleaned or even lay on the table. I was prepared to watch everyone in the whole office cover their ears with the wailing that was bound to happen. BUT...

Mrs. Kim did a great job of letting her hold all the tools and talking to her about everything in such a sweet way that Claire wasn't afraid.

She did great! Here she is picking out a treasure for herself and one for her brother. They are always so sweet to remember each other in those situations.

Today was also Parker's 100th Day of School. Here he is wearing his caterpillar hat, 100 day glasses and necklace. They did tons of fun "100" activities. He had so much to tell us about when he got home.

Retreat Extravaganza

I just returned from our Sunday School Ladies Retreat which is officially (by me) called:
"2nd Annual Agape Peace Ladies Retreat Extravaganza"
Actually, I didn't "just return". I wanted to get this post up yesterday, but (A) I was so tired I couldn't sit upright in my desk chair and (B) I had some Bachelor business to attend to. Jason needed my support, and I for one think it made all the difference. He did exactly the right thing and sent home the girls who were no good for him. Another random thought...while I was just typing that and used the (A) and (B), I remembered Parker telling me this morning that, "A, you need to get a longer shirt". So now I have a 5 year old fashion critique in the house. I don't even know what he was talking about because I can assure you I don't wear belly shirts around the house (or anywhere else for that matter). Just funny that he made his point by starting with (A)!
Now back to the retreat...
We had a blast in Pigeon Forge over the weekend. We followed Beth Moore's Loving Well Retreat Kit. I would highly recommend it. That Beth is a funny gal and the material was powerful. We also did a lot of eating, shopping, talking, sharing, and playing games. Pow-Pow-Bite! If you were there, you understand. If not, be glad you were spared my silliness.
Here's a view of some of us gathered around in the kitchen.
Get a look at all that food! That wasn't even a drop in the bucket!

Hanging out and still eating

Looks like a deep discussion

More sharing time

The only picture of me I have from the weekend. I was obviously having a BBD. Bad Bang Day! Misty's bangs look gorgeous! I'm not jealous or anything...

This is the bear that laid on a beam and supervised us all weekend. I think he should be called Bear Extraordinaire for managing to hang with us all weekend!

It was a wonderful retreat with a fabulous group of friends! I'm truly blessed with each and every one of them!

Parker was out of school again today (and they've already called off school for tomorrow too)!

After the fun in the snow, we worked on Parker's 100 Days of School project. He decided to make a snowman with 100 cotton balls.
Of course, Claire wanted to make a project too!

M is for Michele

I was catching up on Meredith's blog this afternoon and saw this fun meme. Here's the deal:If you want to play, leave a comment on this post letting me know, and I’ll assign you a letter. You write about ten things you love that begin with your assigned letter, and post it at your place. When people comment on your list, you give them a letter, and the chain continues on and on...Meredith gave me the letter "M".

1. M&Ms (peanut)
2. Movies (especially at the theater)

3. Magazines

4. Myrtle Beach, SC

5. Mr. Pibb (NOT Dr. Pepper)

6. Magic Kingdom

7. Mexican Food

8. Music (especially concerts)

9. My Minivan
10. My Family (of course!)

Please let me introduce you

To Mike and Karen
and to Antoine and Amy

Parents with their children

Parker saw this ugly, UGLY two-headed dragon a couple of months before Christmas. I did NOT like it at all! Of course, Parker loved it. Santa brought it for Christmas (against my better judgment). Apparently these dragons were assigned names yesterday. The biggest dragons will henceforth be called Mike and Karen. FYI, Karen is the one sticking her head out in front. I would like to take this opportunity to say that these dragons in no way resemble Parker's Uncle Mike and Aunt Karen.
Then Parker moved on to name the baby two-headed dragon. They now answer to Amy and Antoine. They also do not resemble Aunt Amy in any way! However, we aren't sure who Antoine is and why Uncle Mark was left out of the naming process.
If I were Uncle Mark, I think I would take it as a compliment!

Now I would like to introduce...
Saber Tooth Pirate Octopus
He eats dragon jellyfish like this one

AND Regular Pumas like this one
I sure am glad he doesn't eat irregular pumas! That might be a little odd!
Parker's imagination never ceases to amaze me!

Baby it's cold outside

We may be past Christmas music these days, but this song title is very appropriate for today. At 8:30 this morning, when I took Claire to preschool, my car registered the temperature outside as 9 degrees. The wind chill was even lower than that. I'm so thankful it hasn't been very windy. That would truly make it unbearable.

Parker was out of school today due to "extreme temperatures" so he got to run around with me all morning. He loves to "go places" with me. One of his biggest complaints about starting kindergarten this year is that he might miss out on "going places". Today at lunch he said, "I love town". Makes us sound like we live in the little house on the prairie. "Come on honey, let's saddle up ol' Nelly and ride into town."

Sesame Street Live

Claire and I went to Sesame Street Live this morning! Claire loved it! She especially enjoyed Cookie Monster. I think she has a lot in common with him!

At McDonald's before the show with C and G

Gotta love that fake smile!

This sweet girl noticed these balloons

But unfortunately, I didn't want to take out a second mortgage to finance that purchase!
