We All Scream For Ice Cream

Parker and Claire have been asking for days to go to Dairy Queen to get a blizzard. I'm not sure what planted this idea in their heads, but I can't say I blamed them for being persistent. Yummy!
Mouth full of ice cream!
I left home with the intention of resisting the sweets. Look below to see just how successful I was... (Beware: Not a good picture AT ALL)

We Actually Stayed At Home!

I needed to get some things done at home today, and we all needed some rest from all the recent fun. We decided to actually stay home all day! Claire built this fort and invited Parker to play in it with her. Then they rebuilt it and decided it was the perfect spot to sit and watch "Dumbo".
This afternoon, they played outside for quite a while. Parker is indeed swinging on a baby swing. They both love that swing so much and won't let me take it down. It's a wonder it doesn't break under their weight!
Of course, there were art projects and bubbles!

Let's not forget the chalk! (Look closely to see where Claire signed her name on the window.)

Another Fun Day!

We spent the day with our friends, Rachel and Ruthie. As soon as we got there, Claire had a wardrobe change. Rachel made a wonderful lunch!
Our school friends, Leslie and Megan (& Megan's children) joined us too.

Then it was cupcake time!
After that, the kids played in a creek and got very dirty. Thanks Rachel and Ruthie for being such wonderful hostesses!

New Found Freedom!

We enjoyed our first full day of summer freedom on Friday. Look at who I found all cuddled up watching tv... Saturday we went to Sam's of course. You might be a redneck if Sam's Club is your weekend entertainment! The kids ate pizza at Sam's.
Here's what the grown-ups ate...

It's actually been several weeks since I've had them. Cut me some slack!
Sunday we went to church and went swimming. Today we ran some errands, visited my dad, and swam for FIVE hours. Megan is back from her honeymoon so she joined us at the pool. We are all so worn out tonight, but it was a good day.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school! Woohoo! Here are Parker and Claire early this morning.
They've both had wonderful years, and it was a little bittersweet since we don't think either one will be going back to the same school next year. They will be leaving lots of sweet friends, but we hope we can keep in touch with some of them. Bring on summer!

He was born to be an artist!

This morning was our school's Lifeskills celebration. Parker was awarded the Lifeskill of Common Sense defined as using good judgment. Here he is accepting his award from his teacher.

(My camera has been acting up lately. Sorry these pictures are blurry.)

This afternoon, we went to a ceremony because Parker's artwork was chosen to be displayed at an art show at the mall.

Claire was happy because Ruthie was there.

Grandma and Granddad joined us to view the artwork.
After the ceremony, Parker and Claire jumped in the bounce house. Fun! Parker said, "Mommy, did you know I was born to be an artist?"
I love that boy!

It's Official!

My beautiful niece Megan is now officially married! We've had a weekend filled with wedding festivities. Parker and Claire were both in the wedding, and I was the director so we've been busy!

After the ceremony

First Dance With a Surprise!
Parker and Claire couldn't wait to get on the dance floor as soon as the first dance was over.

Parker took center stage of course. Here he is doing the robot.
Then he actually did find a stage.
Then formed a group.
I really don't even know what to say about this...
