A Busy (Stressful) Week

Last week, we celebrated Read Across America with lots of Dr. Seuss activities every day.  We also had Mystery Readers visit our room several times a day.  Lots of parent, grandparents, aunts, uncles, custodians, etc. stopped by to read with us.

We had a visit from our Superintendent (Director) of Schools.

Mr. Brianaby Murray read to us too!
Our principal
We probably had at least 20 readers throughout the week, and they were all a surprise!

We also had some fun dress up days along with way too many Dr. Seuss activities.

Brian and I got to visit the kids at lunch on the day he came to read.

At home, we watched The Lorax and ate green eggs and ham (bacon).

And a cinnamon roll to round it all out.

If all of that wasn't crazy enough, we also had our School Board visit last week.  Once a year, the whole School Board, the Director of Schools (for the second time in the same week if you'll recall), and all of the Assistant Superintendents visit each school.  There is a presentation by the principal, and then they tour the school.  Also, they visit three classrooms for about 20 minutes each for a teaching demonstration.  I bet you can tell where this is going...

Yep! I was chosen as one of the classrooms for them to visit.  I was also the only K-4 classroom that they were visiting.  Oh, the pressure.  You may remember I did the same thing last year at Fall Branch as well.  I kept telling myself that it is an honor to be chosen, but that does NOT take away the stress and nerves.  When SIXTEEN important folks walk in to watch you teach, all at once, it makes one want to vomit.  To put it nicely.  However, it all went very well.  Everybody had nice things to say afterward.  And I did not in fact vomit or die.

Amen.

Romans 14:19

This is our family verse for this year:

We've all memorized it and are trying to do what it says!

The kids were outside playing one day and came running inside to tell us they had a surprise.

They wrote the verse on the driveway, and that made me a happy Mama!

I'm Just Glad He Didn't Have Bad Breath

I had a lovely opportunity to go to a lovely Rascal Flatts concert with some lovely ladies.

So I went.

We made a little stop at Steak 'n Shake.  It was my first visit, and I really liked it.

Then it was on to the concert.

First, we went back to say hi to the Perrys.  Then we watched Kristen Kelly.  I didn't really know much about her, but she did a good job.

The Band Perry did a really great job.  I think they sounded great, and their show was exciting and entertaining.

Time for RF ~ we had really good seats, so that was nice!

Then during the encore, Mr. LeVox came out into the audience.  He actually got all up in my personal space.  Ha!

Here I am taking a picture of Gary singing to me.
I can't get this picture to turn, but it's too funny not to post.
Check out Megan photobombing back there!
It was a fun night with two of my favorite people!

Claire's Shenanigans

A while back, I walked into Claire's room to find this...

Those are targets.  All over her walls and furniture.
Maybe she is practicing to star in the next Hunger Games movie.

(By the way, I still have only read the first book in that series.  I just can't get over the basic fact that kids are fighting kids.  It just bothers me greatly.  I still haven't completely ruled out reading the other books, but I don't have any immediate plans to read them.)

On a different day, I found this in the hall.

She explained that she was having a birthday party for one of those paper dolls.

I love her imagination!

I am so behind...

I am so, so, so behind on this blog.  I'm going to try to get a little caught up today since we are at home for a SNOW DAY! Whoop! Whoop!

I have a lot to post including, but not limited to (don't fence me in), concerts, school related stuff, several books I've read, The Bachelor, my crazy doctor appointment, and other random goings on.  So here we go!

We enjoyed visiting with Tim and Rachael when they were in town recently.  This is the only picture I have from that night.  I was too busy talking and catching up to get pictures of the kids playing or the guys sitting around the fire pit.  It was great to see them!

Last Saturday night, we went to Parker's Blue and Gold Banquet for Boy Scouts.

We had a nice meal, and all of the boys received their new badges.  We are proud of our Boy Scout!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day!

Everybody woke up to find heart messages taped to their doors.  Just a few of the reasons why I love all of them!

Brian's little love notes

Even Max had some hearts

Parker's class had their party at lunchtime and parents weren't really invited.  BUT...
I went anyway for a few minutes since I was just down the hall.

I was also able to run over to Claire's party for just a few minutes.
Her daddy was able to stop by too.
Nana came over to join us for our Valentine dinner.

Nana's plate

The kids both had some fun candy at their plate too

Nana with some sweet little Valentines
This picture is out of order, but it was Parker and Claire's surprise Valentine breakfast.
I found the sweetest surprise on my bed.  We had agreed not to buy cards and gifts, but we both broke the rules just a tiny bit.  Brian made me the sweetest card.  The front said, "A Valentine List".  (He said he knows how much I love lists ~ ha!)  On the inside was a list of reasons that he loves me.

AWWW!
(Sorry ladies, he's all mine.)
I'm so thankful for all of my precious loves!
