Tupelo Honey Cafe

I mentioned yesterday that we went to Tupelo Honey Cafe with some friends back in July. The original Tupelo Honey restaurant is in Asheville, North Carolina. We visit Asheville fairly often, but we had never eaten there. (We planned to eat there several times, but always talked ourselves out of it because we have a different favorite restaurant in Asheville ~ Mayfel's. It is really delicious!) A new Tupelo Honey recently opened a little closer to home, so we decided to give it a try. Y'all. It. was. so. good.

This grilled cheese immediately caught my eye on the menu. It's way more than a grilled cheese because it has lots of stuff on it besides just plain cheese. Read the description below and then be jealous.

Shoo Grill Cheese,
Have Mercy, Served with
a Big Hearty Mug of Soup »
We’ve created the most mindblowing
grilled cheese on the
planet: Havarti, pimento cheese,
caramelized onions, maple peppered
bacon, smoked ham, fried green
tomatoes and fresh basil served on
our sourdough wheat bread.
I don't remember soup being an option like that description says, but the macaroni and cheese side dish was a mighty fine substitute.

We also ordered this yummy shrimp dish:

Buttermilk-Crusted Baby
Shrimp Kissed with Cherry
Pepper and Lemon Aioli
Soaked in buttermilk and then lightly floured,
these flash-fried juicy shrimp are anointed with
Cherry Pepper Olive Oil and a touch of fresh
basil before being drizzled with Lemon Aioli
We added this salad as well. Brian ate most of it because he loves salad much more than I do, but the few bites I had were good. We did have to ask for extra ranch because PAH-LEEZE! That is not enough ranch for a mouse!
Tupelo signature Salad » Seasonal greens topped
with grape tomatoes, shredded carrots, pickled red onions,
dried cranberries, toasted almonds and sunflower seeds:
Both of our friends ordered the Southern Fried Chicken BLT, and they both loved it.

I highly recommend giving Tupelo Honey Cafe a try if you are near any of their locations!
